Next Heritage Trolley Subcommittee Meeting

The next meeting of the Streetcar and Heritage Trolley Subcommittee will be in Tampa on November 30 and December 1, 2007.

The following description includes the currently planned agenda:

Background

American Public Transportation Association (APTA)

APTA Streetcar and Heritage Trolley Subcommittee

APTA is a nonprofit international association of 1,500 member organizations including public transportation systems; planning, design, construction and finance firms; product and service providers; academic institutions; and state associations and departments of transportation.  APTA members serve the public interest by providing safe, efficient and economical public transportation services and products.  APTA members serve more than 90 percent of persons using public transportation in the United States and Canada.

The APTA Streetcar and Heritage Trolley Subcommittee (of the APTA Rail Committee) was formed to promote the development of vintage/heritage trolley lines and modern streetcar lines in urban centers, to foster information exchange among those planning or operating such lines, to provide expertise to the industry, and to encourage the development of voluntary technical and safety standards.  The subcommittee has issued a vehicle standard and is supporting the development of technical standards for urban track systems, and overhead electrical connector systems.  Currently, the Subcommittee leadership consists of its chair James Graebner; Thomas Hickey, vice-chair; Tim Borchers, secretary; and Martin Schroeder, P.E., APTA staff advisor.
