Mattapan Line Future?

The MBTA in Boston is under extreme pressure to reduce costs in its operating and capital budgets. An unresolved issue is what to do with the 2-mile long Mattapan-Ashmont trolley line that uses PCC cars built in 1945. The line and the old cars are much loved by the neighborhoods and riders it serves. However, the cost of maintaining the cars is high and rising.
