Dallas — Oak Cliff Extension Approved

Dallas' City Council has approved spending up to $27.5 million to extend the downtown Dallas to Oak Cliff modern streetcar line to the Bishop Arts district in Oak Cliff, Dallas Morning News reports. The existing three month old car line operates Brookville Equipment Corp. dual-mode "Liberty" model streetcars with battery power on the viaduct and overhead wire on the rest of the route. The new spending authorization includes purchase of two more streetcars, raising the system total to four units.
