Issaquah, WA — Trolley Update
Rail Transit Online, November 2000
The vintage trolley borrowed from Yakima by the Issaquah
Historical Society arrived on Oct. 20, the day after a last ceremonial ride on
its home tracks prior to being loaded aboard a truck bound for Issaquah. The
project, a heritage line between the downtown Issaquah Depot and Gilman Village,
is somewhat behind schedule. Start of service, which was scheduled for the
holiday season, depends on construction of a carbarn and the issuance of various
permits, none of which have yet been approved (see RTOL, Oct. 2000). The car,
No. 1976, a single-truck Brill, was assembled in 1927 for the Oporto, Portugal,
tram system. A trailer-mounted generator will initially provide traction
power. Eventually, the Society hopes to expand the line to Lake Sammamish State
Park.
