Another portion of the historic St. Charles streetcar line from Lee Circle to Napoleon Avenue will reopen on Nov. 10. An opening ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. and passengers will ride free from the end of the ceremony until 5 p.m. Beginning Nov. 11, cars will run approximately three miles (4.8 km) from Canal Street to Napoleon Avenue between 5:27 a.m. and 11:55 p.m.; prior to the destruction of the 600-volt traction power system by Hurricane Katrina, the line ran 24 hours a day. The remainder of the 6.5-mi. (10.4 km) route to Carrollton Station will hopefully be restored by next spring, after which the schedule may be adjusted.
