New Orleans — Veolia Selected as Operator

The Regional Transit Authority board of directors has tentatively selected Veolia Transportation to operate the city's streetcars and buses for the next three years.

Veolia won a competition against First Transit Inc. and Transit Management of Southeast Louisiana, an in-house employee group that has run the system for the past six years.

A final agreement is being negotiated and is expected to be signed in early September. The deal includes an option for a two-year extension.
