The Seattle City Council's Transport Committee approved construction of the First Hill Streetcar. The 2.2 mile line will run between First Hill and Pioneer Square and is being built instead of an underground light rail station on First Hill which was rejected on cost grounds. Construction is planned to begin in Aprill and teh $132 million project should begin operation in 2014.
