On Friday, July 25, 2014, Tucson's new Sun Link streetcar system began carrying passengers with a three day fare-free period to allow residents to become familiar with the system.
Tucson News Now reported that more than 17,000 people rode the Sun Link Streetcar for its first official day of operation and the crowds continued to line up for the streetcar’s second day.
