Tucson ― New Track For Old Pueblo Trolley

Tracklaying on a short extension of the heritage Old Pueblo Trolley system should be completed by the end of June. The $26-million project will continue the existing route south on Fourth Avenue from near Eighth Street to Congress Street, then continue in a loop around Congress Street,
Fifth Avenue and Broadway, returning to Fourth Avenue.

The new line won't open until next spring, when a new Fourth Avenue railroad underpass is completed. Further expansion is envisioned that would create a route along University Boulevard from the University
of Arizona's west gate on Park Avenue to Fourth Avenue, through the underpass and into downtown.

Also planned is a modern streetcar running four miles (6.4 km) from the University Medical Center to the Rio Nuevo cultural center.
