Streetcar Planning
Combining streetcars and tourism: The California city of Anaheim studied construction of a modern streetcar line to connect a new intermadal transit hub with the city Convention Center and Disneyland, The Orange County Register reports. The hope is to have the 3.2-mile, $318 million car line running by 2018. City staff ruled out a $679 million elevated monorail as too costly. The streetcars would resemble those used by Portland Streetcar. However, support for the project was not universal and the transit agency board voted to kill it in June 2016.
