Atlanta — State Shutdown Threatened
May 2016
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that the Georgia Department of Transportation threatened to shut down the Atlanta modern streetcar line because of flaws it has found in its management and operation.
The State set a deadline of June 15 a letter from the city explaining how the 60 problems identifed would be rectified. If the State finds the response inadequate a shutdown order could follow.
Identified problems include poor maintenance procedures, inadequate staffing and a failure to properly investigate accidents.
The City responded that they will work with regulators to achieve safe and effective operation of the streetcar. |
