Little Rock — 10th Anniversary Celebration
November 2014
On November 20, 2014 a celebration was held in Little Rock to mark the 10th anniversary of the River Rail heritage streetcar line. KATV television reported that Central Arkansas Transit Authority executive director Jerod Varner said that over the decade there has been a boom in business in downtown Little Rock and that the streetcar was a contributing factor. "Because a streetcar provides a sense of place and a sense of community, that's one of the main reasons they're locating where they are," said Varner.
CATA counts 100,000 riders on the rail each year, most are in town visiting.
"Tourists love the River Rail. Our conductors, our operators provide great tours on every single car," said Varner. |
