Miami, FL
Several proposals for modern streetcar installations in Miami have been studied over the past decade or so. An option considered for some period in the mid-2000s proposing introducing streetcars to connect downtown with Miami Beach ultimately led to nothing. Another idea
reviewed involved streetcars connecting downtown with residential areas to the
north, and that study made even less progress.
Most recently, the success of a new streetcar line in Seville, Spain, featuring operation without overhead wires in the city center, has reawakened interest in Miami Beach for service in that city initially, and later connected to downtown via the causeway. Discussions have also begun anew about a downtown to Design District line.
