Rail Transit Online, November 2001
A long-awaited $792,550 FTA grant
to Metro Area Transit has been confirmed. The City of Omaha will add $200,000
to the federal contribution. The money will fund a transportation study that
will include the feasibility of building an electric streetcar line in the
eastern part of the city. Also to be evaluated is a trial hub-and-spoke system
in which small neighborhood feeder buses would shuttle riders to central transit
stations served by express buses. |
