Salem, OR — Downtown Trolley Study

The city of Salem has selected a team of consultants to conduct a feasibility study for a streetcar line that would connect downtown, a new conference center, the state capitol, Willamette University and Salem Hospital.  Nelson\Nygaard Associates and URS Engineering will evaluate alignment and service options, capital and operating costs and economic development potential.  The initial loop would be three to four miles (4.8 km to 6.4 km) in length.  The proposal has already generated significant political and community support.
