Santa Ana — Full Funding Approved

According to Progressive Railroading, the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) board approved a Full Funding Agreement (FFGA) with the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) that would cover half the cost of the planned streetcar system.

OCTA hopes to receive $148.9 million from the FTA to cover about half of the overall $299.3 million. with the balance to come from state cap-and-trade funds, other federal funds, and local Measure M, the county's half-cent sales tax for transportation improvements.

Earlier in May, Congress allocated $50 million to the project for the current fiscal year. OCTA hopes to sign a contract for construction of the system in next winter.
