Washington, DC — Opening by Year End?
October 2015
According to the Washington Post, city officials are again this year saying that the H-Street/Benning streetcar should enter service before year end. Despite the fact that similar estiamtes were delivered for the line to be operational by year-end 2014, Leif A. Dormsjo, the dDot official leading the project says the final push to completion is now underway.
“I think we are on track to be wrapped up here by the end of the year,” Dormsjo said. “There’s been a lot of improvement...But at the end of the day, the only thing that counts is getting the system open safely and responsibly, and that’s really our guiding mission right now.”
When Dormsjo joined the DC Government early this year, he requested an APTA Peer Review to determine tasks needed to complete the line. The list of unfinished tasks has been dwindling, so the line could be ready for opening. |
